AcropolisATHENS The capital of Greek took its name from the goddess Athena, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge. This is where democracy was born. This is where that marvel of architecture, the Parthenon, was created. This is where art became inseparable from life, and this is where Pericles gave funerary speech, that monument of the spoken word. Athens is the symbol of freedom, art, and democracy in the conscience of the civilized world. In Athens memory never fades. Wherever you stand, wherever you turn, the city's long and rich history will be alive in front of you. In the center of town are two hills, the Acropolis with the monuments from the age of Pericles, and Lycabettus with the picturesque chapel of Ai Giorgis. Athens today is a modern city, alive and on the go. Modern, but romantic as well, with busy streets and squares, shop windows a riot of colours, as well as little alleys in quiet peaceful neighbourhoods such as Plaka & Mets.

Optional excursions in Athens: Athens City Tour, Athens by Night, Cape Sounion Tour, Ancient Corinth Tour, Tour to Delphi, Argolis Tour, Cruise to Aegina-Poros-Hydra.

SantoriniSANTORINI one of the best known of the Cyclades, differs from the other islands in the group thanks to its geological morphology, the result of action by a volcano dormant. The landscape on the western side of the island, where towering cliffs crowned by tiny and blindingly - white houses plunge straight into the depths of the sea. Hundrets of steps from the capital of fira to Skala one can walk or take a ride on donkey - back. There is a funicular railway for those who wish to avoid the hundreds of steps. Fira is very attractive, with winding narrow streets, arcades and a quarter where the Catholic nobility once dwelt. There is a superb view out from Fira to the Kamenes, the two islets of black stone created by the volcano. Ancient Thira is a site of great archaeological interest. The site at Akrotiri has yielded the remains of a Minoan city destroyed around 1500BC by an eruption of the volcano on Thira.

Optional excursions in Santorini:

The Tree under which he used to teach still stands in the centre of the town, being the oldest tree in Europe and one of the oldest worldwide. The Asklepieion is undoubtedly the most important monument on Kos, the oldest and most famous centre of healing in the ancient world. It is until today that the Hippocratic Oath is heard every summer at the temple of Asklepieion, spoken in Ancient Greek.Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Italians have passed through the island and formed the mosaic of modern Kos. Archaeological monuments reaching back to more than 3000 years can be found all over the island.Numerous castles, ancient temples old theatres and the Ancient Market remain throughout the centuries witnesses of the glory and fame Kos has known.
